Dibang Valley - Least Populated District of India

An official Census 2011 detail of Dibang Valley, a district of Arunachal Pradesh has been released by Directorate of Census Operations in Arunachal Pradesh. Enumeration of key persons was also done by census officials in Dibang Valley District of Arunachal Pradesh. In 2011, Dibang Valley had population of 7,948 of which male and female were 4,396 and 3,552 respectively. There was change of 9.30 percent in the population compared to population as per 2001. In the previous census of India 2001, Dibang Valley District recorded increase of 17.65 percent to its population compared to 1991.

The initial provisional data suggest a density of 1 in 2011 compared to 1 of 2001. Total area under Dibang Valley district is of about 9,129 sq.km. Average literacy rate of Dibang Valley in 2011 were 64.80 compared to 52.96 of 2001. If things are looked out at gender wise, male and female literacy were 69.39 and 59.10 respectively. For 2001 census, same figures stood at 59.44 and 43.27 in Dibang Valley District. Total literate in Dibang Valley District were 4,435 of which male and female were 2,632 and 1,803 respectively. In 2001, Dibang Valley District had 3,263 in its total region.

With regards to Sex Ratio in Dibang Valley, it stood at 808 per 1000 male compared to 2001 census figure of 697. The average national sex ratio in India is 940 as per latest reports of Census 2011 Directorate.In census enumeration, data regarding child under 0-6 age were also collected for all districts including Dibang Valley. There were total 1,104 children under age of 0-6 against 1,111 of 2001 census. Of total 1,104 male and female were 603 and 501 respectively. Child Sex Ratio as per census 2011 was 831 compared to 874 of census 2001. In 2011, Children under 0-6 formed 13.89 percent of Dibang Valley District compared to 15.28 percent of 2001. There was net change of -1.39 percent in this compared to previous census of India.

Dibang Valley District population constituted 0.57 percent of total Arunachal Pradesh population. In 2001 census, this figure for Dibang Valley District was at 0.57 percent of Arunachal Pradesh population. Geography

Dibang Valley District came into existence on 1st June'1980 with its headquarter at Anini.Dibang Valley is bounded by Lohit in the south-east,Lower Dibang Valley in the South,East Siang in the West and by a big brother china in the North and North-East.It has an area of 9129 sq kms . Dibang Valley consists of undulated-rugged mountains with breath-taking green valleys, deep-down gorges, enchanting waterfalls, natural lakes of various dimensions and innumerable meandering rivers and turbulent streams.The District headquarter Anini is located at 1968 meters above sea level.
