Gurung for Representation in RS from Darjeeling
Kolkata: Gorkha Janmukti Morcha President Bimal Gurung today said there should be representation from the Darjeeling hills to the Rajya Sabha from West Bengal. "We wish to be represented to the Rajya Sabha from the hills," Gurung told reporters after a meeting with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. "We requested the chief minister to see that the next time, when there will be vacancies in Rajya Sabha from West Bengal, there should be representation from the hills," he said. On polls to the GTA, Gurung said there would be no election before the submission of the high-power committee's report on inclusion of additional areas from Terai and Dooars areas in the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration, the new hill council in Darjeeling which will run the administration in the hills.
