Population Figures of Sikkim at Glance (1971-2011)

As per Official Census of India 2011, Population of Sikkim is now 6.07 Lakh showing change of 12.36% from the last decade. Reports of Census 2011 suggest that Sikkim feeds 0.05 percent of total population of India.As per preliminary report of Sikkim, of total population of 607,688 male and female constituted 321,661 and 286,027 respectively. In 2001, Sikkim’s population stood at figure of 540,851 roughly 5.41 Lakh.

Sikkim, one of the states or UT of India having total sq km area of 7,096 has density of 86 per Sq.km which is below the national average density of India which figures currently at 382. If measurement is shifted from Kilometer to Mile, Sikkim’s total area becomes 2,740 Sq mi having density of approximately 222 per Sq mi.
