Fake driving licence racket busted in Gangtok

Gangtok : The police today claimed to have busted a fake driving licence racket in Gangtok with the arrest of the alleged forger by using a decoy. Following information that fake driving licences were available from a photo studio near MP Golai here, the East district police chalked out a plan and sent the decoy to the o studio to order a fake driving licence, Senior SP M S Tuli said in a release. The accused, Raju Pradhan, took an advance of Rs 800 and told the decoy to collect the driving licence the next day after paying the balance payment of Rs 700. After the fake document was handed over to the decoy, a raid was conducted and Pradhan was arrested. The release said several licences, laminated cards, a computer and a printer/scanner were seized from the studio. The police found in the computer a list of fake licences produced by the accused in the last two months, the release said adding this lead would be followed up. The accused had previously been involved in two cases of drug peddling, it said.
