Tulsi Ghimire is a Nepali film director, screenwriter, film editor, cameraman, actor and lyricist. He is one of the most well-known and successful directors of the Nepali film industry. Tulsi Ghimire was born in Sindeybong, Kalimpong, Darjeeling district, India to Dhojman Ghimire and Narbada Ghimire. He has two younger brothers and a sister. Tulsi studied at the Mani Memorial Primary School in Sindeybong up to second grade, and then from grade 3 to 11 at the Scottish University Mission Institute (SUMI), Kalimpong. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Kalimpong College.
He is married to Bharati Ghimire (Gazmer), who has sung in many of his films. His brother Shrawan Ghimire is a successful film producer. Tulsi's children, Bhawana Ghimire and Panchami Ghimire, have also appeared in a Nepali children's film Swarg Ko Pari. In addition to being a film director, Tulsi Ghimire has also been a successful screenwriter, editor, cameraman, actor and lyricist.Tusli Ghimire initially moved to Mumbai from Kalimpong in 1974 to work in the Indian film industry, Bollywood. Tulsi’s mentor and Bollywood editor Kamlakar Karkhanis advised him to make Nepali movies at that time. Tusli debuted in the Nepali film industry with the Nepali movie Bansuri in 1981 as a director.
He made his second movie Kusume Rumal in 1985, based on his own story, which became very successful. Among his movies, Kusume Rumal, Lahure, Deuta, Chino, Balidaan, Dakshina and Darpan Chhaya are considered hits. Darpan Chaya is considered to be one of the top grossing and the biggest blockbusters of Nepali cinema. Tulsi Ghimire is currently busy in an animated movie, the first in the Nepali movie industry. The movie made on the story of Buddha is expected to be release in 2013 and will be dubbed in seven different languages. The movie was reported to cost over 80 million rupees.

Film Maker, Writer, Media Personality Prakash Sayami has written about 21 unknown facts about Narayan Gopal. Here are rough translation of the Nepali text: - To the ones he didn't like he used to say, 'One blow is not enough and two blows kills him.'
- He used call Gopal Yonjan by 'Mitjyu' and Divya Khaling by 'Som'
- Two of his songs were controversial. 'Galti Hazaar Hunchhan...' was banned in Radio Nepal. Another song, 'Aajha Bholi Harek Sanjh...' was behind the misunderstanding between the lyricist Bhim Birag and the musician Madhu Chhetri. The song was also removed from the music cassette.
- When a Baidhya businessman offered Narayan Gopal Rs. 200,000 to go to Bombay for recording his first album, Narayan Gopal refused by saying that he doesn't want a smuggler's money.
- Narayan Gopal refused an award because of the condition that he had to sing on stage. That was the first award from a movie.
- Like Indian actor Amitabh Bachchan, Narayan Gopal stayed away from media for three years. He banned government media like Jagjit Singh. He didn't sing for Radio Nepal in later stage of his life.
- Narayan Gopal's nickname was 'Gaida'. Those who didn't like him they used to call by this nickname. Those who like Narayan Gopal they used to call by the nickname 'Sanubhai'. Now, every Nepali knows him as 'Sworsamrat'.

- In the movie 'Pariwartan' he told that he won't sing a duet song and forced to add a solo song. The solo song 'Bhujnai Sakinau Timile Mero Aankha ko Bhaka... ' was his debut song in movie. The song was written by Chetan Karki and music by V. Balsara.
- When an ADC from the palace brought a song by Chandani Shah (then queen, Aishwarya) he got annoyed and asked him not go come again. He didn't want to sing the song. - Narayan Gopal had recorded 157 songs in his life. He sang three songs in his mother tongue, Newari, but none were recorded. He had saved those songs in his cassette player. Two of the songs were written by Girija Prasad Joshi and one by Durgalal Shrestha.
- First solo concert of Narayan Gopal was organized in Silgudi, West Bangal, India. The event was managed by musician Divya Khaling.
- After Arunma Lama Night Narayan Gopal and Ambar Gurung parted and didn't talk with each other. It was only in 2041 BS, during the time of the recording of 'Malati Mangale' poet Madhav Ghimire helped them get together again.
- During the royalty era, Narayan Gopal only sang two songs written by the royal members. One was written by Chandani Shah and another by Rabindra Shah.
- Apart from editing a magazine, Narayan Gopal had written a few articles. His essay "Devkota Bacheko Bhaya" was published in Madhuparka monthly and "Baudhik Bhanine Shrasta" (on Parijat) was published in Gorkhapatra daily.

STORYLINE
Laia, a young Catalan teacher, moves to Kathmandu in the early 90's, to volunteer in a local school.She will soon discover extreme poverty and a devastatingly bleak educational system that leaves out the most needy. She initially protests and later decides to get married out of convenience, so as to legalize her situation and take on an ambitious educational project in the slums of Kathmandu.
She immediately realizes that she can't do it all by herself. She also discovers a beautiful gift she had never expected: to fall in love with the stranger she marries. She finds herself torn between her love life and her commitment to the children she helps. Laia and Sharmila, another young teacher who becomes her dearest friend, work side by side to launch a new project that will distance Laia from her partner beyond repair. It will, however, always unite her to Sharmila and small Kushila, in a personal journey into the depths of the Nepalese society and also to her most inner self.

Mantra is a well-known Indo-Nepalese rock and roll band from Darjeeling . Formed in 2000, the band has produced many popular songs. Bir Gorkhali, Ekantama and Sanskriti,Timi bina are some of them. Bir Gorkhali, a song which first appeared in their debut album (Mantra) had also been featured by Prashant Tamang (the winner of Indian idol season 3), in his solo album 'Dhanyabad'. The current band members are: Bhasker Dewan (lead vocals), Pragya Lama (guitars), Birju Chowdhary (drums), Manish Thapa (keyboard), Bidhan (flute, saxophone) and Pravash Subba (bass) . Coming from a family of directors and filmmakers, the evergreen actor Tripti Nadkar made her first television appearance at the age of two. The actress was the right combination of vulnerability, youth, beauty and she had bundles of talent. Sharan Pradhan was a lyricist and composer par excellence…a shining star in the Music scene of Nepal from 2020 BS. By 21, he was already an established name. Together with him, another artist who was also trying to prove her worth was none other than Aruna Lama and so was Ranjeet Gajmer. This era also witnessed the promotion and enhancement of modern adhunik songs. Since his early childhood, Saran Pradhan had a keen interest in music and proved his skills right from a very tender age. He also acquired immense knowledge on the various traditional musical instruments. By the time he was in his teens, he had already learnt to play the banjo very efficiently. It is believed that this was his favorite instrument. Later, he also learnt to play the mandolin and it became one of his favorites as well.
It was his mother who bought him his first mandolin, which he couldn’t do without even for a day. To further polish up his skills on this particular instrument, he joined an institution in Darjeeling initiated by the legendary Amber Gurung. Sharan Pradhan and Aruna Lama were very good friends initially. In fact, Sharan Pradhan had a soft corner for her since the time he could remember. Music being the catalyst, and their fondness for each other further developed a strong bond between them. Later, they married on Ashar 25, 2020 BS and made numerous memorable music together.
Sharan Pradhan was born on (03 May 1943 ) Baishak 20, 2000 BS. He was the only child of Harka Bahadur Pradhan and Kabi Maya Rai. Since his father was employed at a government organization, he had a very healthy upbringing. Moreover, He grew up in an ardent musical environment. Since he had learnt music under the guidance of the great Amber Gurung, he developed an excellent knowledge and excelled in the field of music. While still learning, he had impressed Amber Gurung to such an extent that he was offered with an opportunity to play the mandolin on his songs. As days passed by, he turned into a fine composer as well. He used to compose music, write songs and share them with his wife Aruna Lama, his biggest fan. Initially, Aruna Lama used to sing only his compositions, most of them being real masterpieces.
Darjeeling, one time had plenty of renowned musicians. As soon as Amber Gurung shifted his base to Kathmandu, the music scene of Darjeeling was in some ways a little subdued. This was the time, when Sharan Pradhan opened a music institution called 'Sangeet Sangam'. There was no way the music environment of Darjeeling was on a downhill slide after the operation of 'Sangeet Sangam' began. It was also during the same time that his music started getting noticed on a broader perspective. He and his wife, later referred to as the ‘Nightingale of the Himalayas’ were the pride of Nepali Music.
His friend from his school days at Turnbul English High School was the now established Ranjeet Gajmer. They even wrote songs together, composed music and later sang them coming out as SharanRanjeet. He completed his Bachelors in Commerce from St Joseph College and later taught mathematics and science at St Robert High School. He was a perfect teacher, a fabulous musician, a good husband and a fantastic father. But he was physically not very healthy and was often bedridden for lengthy periods. Once it so happened that after returning from school, since he was not feeling well, he decided to take a nap as soon as he arrived home. He never woke up. He expired on Basaikh 20, 2031 BS. His two children—Sapana and Supreet, survive him.

Aruna Lama is one of the well-known singers of Nepali music. She is popularly known as "The Nightingale of the Hills". She sang hundreds of Nepali songs, including some for Nepali films, and left an indelible mark as one of the best singers in Nepali music. Aruna Lama was born on September 9, 1945 at Ghoom Pahar, Darjeeling, India to Surya Bahadur Lama and Sanmaya Lama. Her uncle C.B. Lama inspired her to sing from the age of 7. She won a music competition organized by the Gorkha Dukha Niwarak Sammelan (GDNS) in 1956 at the age of 11 and then she never looked back. Amber Gurung, one of the stalwarts of Nepali music, groomed her in singing from 1958.
Aruna Lama did her schooling at Mungpoo Primary School, Jalpahar, and St. Teresa's School, Darjeeling. She completed her graduate degree in arts from Darjeeling Government College. In 1963, Aruna Lama married Saran Pradhan, another Nepali musician. In 1974, her husband died and she was left with her two children, Sapna (Pradhan) Thapa and Supreet Raj Pradhan. She worked hard to raise them, working as an assistant teacher in St. Alphonsus School (1965) and finally found work at the Scheduled Castes and Tribes Welfare Office in Darjeeling where she worked till 1998. She continued to sing even with all her struggles till the end of her life. Aruna Lama sang for numerous music composers, most notably Amber Gurung, Karma Yonzon, Gopal Yonzon, Shanti Thatal, Narayan Gopal, Mani Kamal Chettri and Dibya Khaling.
Her first song was composed by Amber Gurung with lyrics of Bhupi Sherchan in 1961. Some of her classic hits include Eh Kancha Malai Sunko Tara, Phool Lai Sodhey, Pohor Saal Khusi Phatyo, Hera Na Hera Kancha, Laharey Bara Ghumauney Chautari, Eklai Basda and Nepali Gaurav Garchau Afnaipanma. She also sang for a number of Nepali films, such as Maitighar, Paral Ko Aago and Kanchhi, and these film songs are remembered even today. Some of her notable musical performances include Raag Rajat at Gorkha Rangamanch, Darjeeling 1981; Arunanjali at Pragya Bhawan, Kathmandu; and Aruna Lama Swarnim Saanjh at Pragya Bhawan, Kathmandu.

Prakash Shrestha is a Nepali singer. He has recorded 1000 songs, released 12 albums in the form of cassettes and CDs. He has more than 500 performances nationally and internationally under his belt. He has lent his voice to playback songs in more than 150 Nepali films. Prakash shrestha was born in Birgunj, Nepal. He graduated with Bachelors in Commerce from Thakur Ram college (Birgunj) and went to pursue training in India where he obtained a diploma in music ( Sangeet Prabhakar) from Allahabad university. Besides singing, he was also a sportsman of exceptional ability, excelling in table tennis, cricket and football. He started his career as a singer in 1973 (2030) and since then he has made tremendous contribution to Nepali music industry. Over the period of 36 years, he has gained much respect and adoration from Nepali fans all around the world.
His velvety voice has touched souls of many Nepalese people. Millions have been enchanted with this soulful singer's melodious voice and many more have been charmed by his courteous and gentlemanly ways. Prakash Shrestha is a good representation of the quintessential Nepali man. For the few who know Prakash shrestha closely, he is, first and foremost, a family man-a dedicated husband to his wife to whom he has been married for 25 years and a father to two wonderful daughters. Ranjit Gazmer is a musician of Nepali and Hindi films. Ranjit Gazmer was a student of Amber Gurung at his Art Academy of Music in Darjeeling, India. His contemporaries were Gopal Yonzon, Karma Yonzon, Sharan Pradhan, Aruna Lama and Jitendra Bardewa, all of whom went on to be musicians. He was a part of a musical group called Sangam Club and was also a drummer for The Hillians, the first-ever Western band formed in Darjeeling. In 1966, he moved to Birgunj, Nepal with his friends, which included Anuradha Koirala (then Anuradha Gurung), managing an English-medium private school. In 1967, Ranjit had moved to Kathmandu with his friends and became a studio musician at Radio Nepal. Later, Ranjit moved to Mumbai (Bombay then) to pursue his music career there with RD Burman. Ranjit Gazmer worked under RD Burman in Mumbai, playing madal in several Hindi film songs.
In the early part of 1970, a youth from the hill town made his way to Mumbai with only a madal (a traditional Nepali drum) for company. In 1982, Ranjit arranged for Asha Bhosle to sing her first Nepali film song. Since then he has composed music for several Nepali films such as Samjhana, Kusume Rumal, Lahure, Saino, and Darpan Chaya. He is based in Mumbai and records songs in the studios there. “I was introduced to R.D. Burman by an acquaintance, Manohari Singh. I had taken my madal with me and he asked me to play it on the spot,” recalled Gazmer.It was Burman, who gave the hill youth his first break in Hindi films. In fact, the legendary music director was looking for a Nepali touch to Dev Anand’s role in the Hindi blockbuster Hare Rama Hare Krishna, whose story was based in Nepal, and Gazmer seemed just right.“I worked extensively on the film, especially in the song
Kancha re. In fact, I came to be known as kancha in film circles after that,” said the madal player. His association with Burman continued and he worked on other superhit films like Sholay and Ajnabee.
He has also carved a niche for himself as a music director in the Kathmandu-based Nepali film industry. “In 1982, I arranged for Asha Bhosle to sing her first Nepali song. Since then Ashaji has lent her voice to a number of Nepali hits,” said Gazmer, who has been the music director for hit films like Darpan Chaya, Saino and Kusum Mero Rumal, during his stint as a music director. Like singer Udit Narayan (who also sings in Nepali), Gazmer is based in Mumbai and records songs in the studios there. Though this forces him to constantly fly between Mumbai and Kathmandu, Gazmer is not too keen to settle down in these parts. “Things have changed and though I have fond memories of the place I do not think I will come back and settle here,” said Gazmer who had tried setting up a recording studio in Siliguri some time back. “My son, Satyajit, is also working in Bollywood. He was the assistant director in the film Chocolate.

Paral Ko Aago is a 1978 Nepali black-and-white film directed by Pratap Subba and produced by Cineroma. It is based on a story of the same name by the Nepali writer Guru Prasad Mainali. The actors of the movie were Tanka Sharma, Susmita Dhakal, Basundhara Bhusal, I.K. Singh and Menuka Pradhan. The director Pratap Subba was also the scriptwriter. The music director Ronish Subedi became the first female music director in Nepali films. The film was shot in areas around Kalimpong and Darjeeling, India in 1976. It was released in 1978 and the black-and-white movie proved to be a great success due to its story and melodious music. The lyrics of the songs were written Manbahadur Mukhiya and Indra Thapaliya and the songs were sung by Aruna Lama, Dawa Gyalmo, Pema Lama, Shankar Gurung and Deepa Gahatraj (Jha).

Gopal Yonzon is a one of the most prominent music composer, director, lyricist, singer and music arranger in the history of Nepali music. Gopal Yonzon has over 2000 musical compositions to his credit, ranging from folk, classical, modern to Western music. Gopal Yonzon was born on August 26, 1943 in Darjeeling. Initially, he specialized as a flutist for local Darjeeling cultural troupes. He had a BA degree in South Asian Music. He moved to Nepal from Darjeeling where his musical genius bore rich fruits and led to the creation of some of the best Nepali music. His elder brother Karma Yonzon is also a well-known Nepali musician. In a brief introduction of Gopal Yonzon on an album cover, Music Nepal, the largest music company in Nepal, writes: "Gopal Yonjan is a music composer, director, lyricist, singer and music arranger, who left us all in May 1997. In his search for excellence, Gopal dedicated his entire life in creating Nepali Music.
Through his compositions he illustrates the diversity and beauty of Nepali music with the sensitivity and clarity of a fine painter who touched every stroke with an in-depth understanding of his subject. Gopal's musical genius covered such a wide spectrum that it is not possible to encapsulate the essence of the man in one album. Gopal felt deeply for Nepal and Nepali people. His songs reflects this deep innate bond that he believed would touch a common chords in all Nepalese scattered around the world, transcending man-made barriers and boundaries. His songs hold message especially for the youth of Nepal whom he desired to inspire and motivate."

The song titled “Haatti- Bhaalu” is shot on Saugat Malla.The movie scheduled to release on Feb 22 is written and directed by Nigam Shrestha.
